Artemus “Butch” E. Conn, 86, of Canton, formerly of East Canton, passed away peacefully at Aultman Compassionate Care on Saturday, October 10, 2026. He was born October 9, 1940, in Canton, Ohio, to the late Arthur A. and Ruth (Hess) Conn. Butch spent his life in the Canton and East Canton areas and remained connected to the communities he called home.
Butch served in the United States Army from January 1959 until March 1962. After completing his military service, he began working as an electrician, spending 40 years with United Engineering and Foundry Company. After retiring he worked for Aultman Hospital until 2004 for their Amish Outreach Program.
Throughout his life, Butch believed in giving his time to others. He dedicated more than 25 years to the Canton Township Fire Department, Station 4, where his commitment and experience led him to serve as Assistant Fire Chief. His years of volunteer service reflected the importance he placed on helping others and being there for his community. It was one of his most cherished accomplishments.
Butch was preceded in death by his wife, Donna L. (Conrad) Conn, whom he married in 1963; his twin brother, Arthur Conn; and his foster brother, James McCauley, and James’s wife, Carolyn.
He leaves behind many friends whose lives he touched over the years. Butch and Donna were grateful for the many ways all helped and cared for them. Their kindness and dedication meant so much to Butch and will not be forgotten.
In keeping with Butch’s wishes, a private burial will take place at St. Louis Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Canton Christian Home Benevolent Fund, 2550 Cleveland Ave. NW, Canton, Ohio 44709, in memory of Butch.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Sanders Funeral Home, 218 East Nassau Street, East Canton, Ohio 44730.
