Cindy J. Warren, 79, of East Sparta, Ohio, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, May 18, 2026. She was born in DeRuyter, New York, on October 16, 1946, to the late Milo Warren and Shirley Maxson.
In addition to her parents, Cindy was preceded in death by her brother, Kitt Warren, who welcomed her home.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband, Jeffery Neumann, her four living siblings, four children, ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Cindy was the eldest of six children and dedicated her life to her family and raising her four children.
As life progressed she pursued and obtained her nursing degree and began her career as a registered nurse. She touched many lives while working at Cortland Memorial Hospital in New York, before relocating to Mercy Medical Center in Canton, Ohio.
In her later years, Cindy obtained her MSN and shared her knowledge and passion for nursing through education. She taught nursing at Kent State University Tuscarawas Campus and after retiring she was called back to work as the Director of Nursing at the Buckeye Career Center School of Nursing. She also played an instrumental role in the nursing program at Akron Institute by assisting the Director of Nursing in their inaugural year. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Cindy was an exceptionally skilled seamstress. She was active in the Pike Township Grange, volunteered at Zoar, and valued the connections she made within her community.
Her family has many loving memories of Cindy laughing, singing and bringing joy to others. She is often remembered for telling and writing stories of her childhood growing up on her family’s dairy farm in DeRuyter. Many remember spending days with her baking bread, learning to sew, singing together and pulling silly pranks. She had a great love and appreciation of music, the arts and nature.
All of her close family remember her April Fool’s day wedding to the love of her life, her “Jeffy”. They spent their 37 happy years of marriage traveling the world, exploring the National Parks, visiting all 50 United States, all ten Canadian provinces, Mexico, Poland and Great Britain. She noted Oregon was her favorite. They captured many memories of their travels in photos which are proudly displayed in their home.
In keeping with Cindy’s wishes, no funeral services will be held, however there will be a Celebration of Life held at the Pike Township Grange located at 142 Battlesburg St SE East Sparta, OH on May 30th at 1 PM. There will be a second celebration held in DeRuyter, NY at the American Legion. Date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the following charities dedicated to helping others, in honor of Cindy’s lifelong spirit of compassion and service: Doctors Without Borders and World Central Kitchens.
