David Noble Hughson, Jr., affectionately known as "Skip," passed away on November 15, 2023, at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital, surrounded by his loving family .Born on January 18, 1946, in Boston, MA, Skip was the son of David and Wilma Hughson, Sr. His childhood was marked by adventure and diversity as his father, an Army captain, led the family to various locations across the US and Europe including Germany, Austria, and France.
Skip was the devoted husband of Glenda Jane Hughson for 57 years. He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Hughson and fiance Mike McKinney, and his son, David (Lori) Hughson III. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Benjamin Fisher and fiance Brittany Phillipi, Ashley Millington, Cortney (Patrick) Ayers, Anna Hughson and Dylan Park. Skip was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Samuel and Evelyn Fisher, Jackon, LoriAnne, and Claire Millington, Cali Hughson, and Harvey Ayers.
He is remembered fondly by his sister-in-law Verna Lann, numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, as well as his very special neighbors. Skip was preceded in death by his parents, David and Wilma Hughson, Sr., and his grandson David Hughson IV.
Skip graduated from Canton South High School in 1964. He spent over 30 years driving trucks, working first with CCC Highway and the majority of his career with Kenan Advantage Group. He attended Wildwood Chapel in Mapleton, Ohio with his wife and served as a deacon.
Known for his strong-willed nature, Skip was generous to a fault and tirelessly worked to support his family. Skip had a very social personality – he would strike up a conversation with anyone. His silly and endearing nature was exemplified by his unique way of saying goodbye to his family, "doublia" that accompanied a goofy hand gesture.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, November 20 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home in Canton South. Funeral Service will follow promptly at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Wildwood Chapel, 8628 Mapleton St. SE, Easton Canton, Ohio, in memory of Skip Hughson.
