David Allen Wagner

April 30, 1962 — August 1, 2025

David Allen Wagner was born on April 30, 1962, to Elvin M. and Juanita L. (Ervin) Wagner, he passed away on August 1, 2025, in the Cleveland Clinic Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was a 1980 Sandy Valley High School graduate and spent most of his career in the steel industry known as “Big Dave” or “Wags”.

Dave proudly worked with the same company for over 35 years, growing with them as they changed ownership. He was a Regional Service Sales Manager for the steel industry and helped service multiple steel mills in the Eastern United States and into Canada.

Dave was a lifetime member of the Eagles, Sandy Valley Club #3228 and the Atwood Yacht Club for over 15 years.

Most nights he and his wife could be found floating on their pontoon boat at Atwood Lake. Dave was very meticulous about his lawn, also helping the neighborhood with anything necessary. He was an avid outdoors person and loved being in nature.

Dave was a huge football fanatic, time spent watching the Cleveland Browns with his two sons never lacked emotion! Dave was known as a big Chevy guy and enjoyed watching Nascar to see if Jimmy Johnson was taking the lead on race day and joking to anyone who parked a Ford in his driveway.

He enjoyed the years he spent coaching sports, especially being there with his sons. Feeding his family was very important, he loved to cook and share his delicious recipes with everyone. Some of his most cherished memories were family vacations on Hilton Head Island.

David was an animal lover, especially his dogs his whole life, most recently his yellow lab Bailey, he also loved birds, watching them and checking daily on them to make sure they had food to eat.

Preceded in death by his parents, Elvin and Juanita, a mother-in-law, Nadine Nolen and father-in-law, Skip.

Those left to cherish his memories are his best friend and wife Tawnya Wagner of 38 years, who he married on September 12, 1987; sons, Nicholas Wagner and Cole (Lauren) Wagner; grandson, Lane and soon to be expected second grandson; sister, Melanie Wagner; sister-in-law, Susan (Rich) Wanner; nephew, Jordan (Samantha) Wanner, and niece, Ali (Sam) Fell.

Per his wishes there will be no services.
