Dixie E. Lucas, age 95, of East Canton, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at Green Meadows Nursing Center. Born in Monongalia County, West Virginia, to the late Dewey and Inez Dalton, Dixie spent most of her life in the East Canton community.
Dixie had a passion for sewing and quilting, creating many beautiful quilts throughout her life. Above all, she cherished her family and her church. As a devoted homemaker, she loved being actively involved in her children’s lives and was a longstanding member of the East Canton Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Edward Miller; second husband, Paul Wiles; third husband, Oscar Lucas; son, Ted Miller; sisters, Dorothy Dalton, Margie Dalton; Deloris Kennedy; Rosalee Borne; Roxie Manion; and Viva Mitchell, and Sylvia Dalton; brother; Dewey “Bud” Herman Dalton; stepmother, Anna Dalton.
Dixie is survived by her two sons: Dewey (Elaine) Miller; William (Patricia) Miller. She also leaves behind two daughters: Dixie Colleen (George Dewey); and Linda Akeley. Additionally, she is remembered by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Sanders Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm. with Pastor Greg Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Hills Burial Park.
