With love and fondest memories, the family of Dolores Ladson announces the passing of a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, auntie and sister who peacefully departed this world on Monday, January 12, 2026, in Cleveland Clinic Mercy Medical Center, located in Canton, Ohio. She was born on January 6, 1944 to the late Marvin and Nettie Punch in Jamaica Queens, New York.
Dolores was a 1962 graduate of Jamaica High School in Queens, New York. She continued to further her education at Northeastern Institute for Christian Education in Villanova, PA.
On September 1, 1963, Dolores united in marriage with the love of her life, James Ladson, and they created a home filled with love, warmth and care. They lived a wonderful and happy 61 years of marriage together until James' passing in April of 2024.
Dolores was a strong and vibrant woman who raised two beautiful children. She lived a joyful, religious life and was a devoted member of the Northwest Church of Christ. She was an exceptional salesperson. While being a phenomenal stay at home mother, she dedicated 50 years of her life to selling Avon and was always recognized on the top ten list of ladies who sold the most in Ohio. Even in her retired years, she continued to sell some Avon up until a year ago. The many enjoyable times in her life included church, traveling with her husband, cooking and baking, family gatherings with her children, grandchildren, and great-grand, Ella Marie, all who were deeply devoted to her. She was well known for baking her delicious lemon cake. She also had a special knack for making beautiful gift baskets.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, James; grandson, Antonio Scott Gracia; as well as her siblings, Barbara Steadman and Victor Campbell.
Dolores' enduring love will be cherished always by her children, Jamella Ladson McNeill and James M. Ladson, both of Canton. Her memory will forever be kept with her brother, Kevin Green. Her legacy will be honored through her grandchildren, Isaiah James Ladson, Elijah James Ladson, Eleesha Marie Ladson, Khimani Dushon McNeill, Leilani Lee-Marie McNeill, Gary Parker and Tristen Wofford; and beautiful great-granddaughter, Ella Marie Ladson.
She shared an unbreakable bond with a score of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
A Mother's Love is ours to keep what a priceless thing to know. Her thoughts stay with us through the years, no matter where we go. And nothing else in all the world will ever rise above the most important thing of all. A Mother's special love.
As we prepare to bid farewell to Dolores, let us remember the joy she brought to our lives and the love she shared with us all. May her memory forever shine bright in our hearts.
In her honor, a public viewing will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026, starting at 10am at the Northwest Church of Christ (3904 38th Street NW, Canton, Ohio 44718). A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at 12pm officiated by Pastor John Wright.
Dolores will then be laid alongside her beloved husband at Sunset Hills Memory Garden.
