Donald R. Barnhart Sr. passed away on Sunday March 17, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Canton, Ohio on May 19, 1932. He has been a resident of Bolivar, Ohio for 68 years.
Donald Sr. graduated from Timken High School. After which he joined the United States Army and served honorable during the Korean War. He was an active member of Christ Presbyterian Church of Canton.
Donald Sr. retired from the Timken Company bearing boring mill. In 1958 while working at Timken Donald Sr. opened his own television repair company, Barnhart TV & Antenna, which continues this day with his son Donald Jr. at the helm. Donald Sr. wore many hats but the one that served him best was being a loving husband and father to his children.
Donald Sr. was a man of many facets from his passion for golf to his adventures traversing the country in his RV alongside Leah, his beloved wife of 68 years since their marriage on June 18, 1955, he has left an indelible mark. While he cherishes moments with his grandchildren, those who truly recall Donald Sr. will reminisce about his knack for mischief and his infectious sense of humor, capable of eliciting laughter from the depths of one's soul.
Donald Sr. is proceeded in death by his mother Alberta (Peterson) Bennett; stepfather Dan Bennett whom he considered his father; son-in law Richard Vance.
Those left to cherish Donald Sr.’s memory are his wife Leah (Dolly) Barnhart; his daughter Donna Vance of Kent; sons Danny (Sally) Barnhart of Sherrodsville and Donald Barnhart Jr. of Bolivar; grandchildren Ben (Heather) Vance, Kara (Alex) Morgart, Jessica Barnhart; great-grandchildren Coen, Harper, Lincoln, Gibson, Finnegan, and Lennon
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024, 12:00pm - 1:00pm with a funeral service to follow at 1:00pm in the Kreighbaum Sanders Funeral Home. Interment will follow at North Lawn Cemetery with military honors.
