Donald J. Franklin
Age 86, of Canton joined his heavenly Father at his home on Sunday January 10, 2021 surrounded by the love and memories of his family that will now painfully miss him for the rest of their lives. He was born March 17, 1934 in Avery County, N.C. to the late Robert and Edna (Hall) Franklin. Donald was a 1952 graduate of Canton South High School and a U.S. Army Korean War veteran. He retired from Republic Storage Systems of Canton in 1996 after more than 40 years of service. Donald was an avid golfer enjoying many rounds at Spring Valley Golf Course and enjoyed fishing. He was a big Cleveland Indians fan and followed all Ohio sporting events. He is preceded in death by his wife, Helen Franklin in 2013; three brothers, Earl “Bud”, Robert “Pete” and Sherman “Lee” Franklin; one sister, Vernelle Eversole. Donald is survived by three children, Deborah (John) Patton, Dr. Donald (Dawn) Franklin and Connie (Dr. Scott) Haack; four grandchildren, John (Lauren) and Jason (Sarah) Patton, Megan (Jordan) Hart and McKenna Haack; seven great-grandchildren, Eli, Jack, Hannah, Clara and Lexi Patton, Kami Hart and baby girl Hart due in June; one sister, Carolyn Littlefield. Friends and family will be received Friday January 15, 2021 from 6-8pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home. A private family service will be conducted with burial in Sunset Hills Burial Park.
