Dorothy L. Breniser

Dorothy L. (Tripp) Breniser, age 96, a lifelong resident of Canton Township, passed away on January 22, 2024. She was a godly woman who dedicated her life to her faith, family, and the education of young minds. Her career as an elementary school teacher spanned many years, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of countless students.

Dorothy was born on March 10, 1927, to William and Grace (Ake) Berger in Canton, Ohio.  She went on to graduate from Canton South High School and Ashland University, where she earned a degree in Elementary Education.  Dorothy began her teaching journey at Canton City Schools and later joined Canton Local Schools, where she devoted the majority of her career. She concluded her professional endeavor at Canton Local Schools as a Resource Room teacher.

Dorothy was a lifelong member of the First Lutheran Church. Her involvement included teaching Sunday school and being the director of the junior department. She participated in numerous projects within the church community, demonstrating her unwavering dedication to her faith.

Devoted to her family, Dorothy brought love and care into every aspect of her life. She will be dearly missed by her daughter, Debra (Kevin) Malavite; son, Scott (Mary Beth) Tripp; stepson, Mark (Debbie) Breniser; and grandchildren: Kate (Nick) McKinney, Lydia (Zak) Blackwell, Alison (Phil) Eckinger, Derek Campbell, Carolyn Tripp, and Jonathan Tripp. Additionally, she leaves behind great-grandchildren Sutton, Calvin, Celine, Zeke, and Athena; siblings Wilma Jane Kreider and Carole Nichols.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, John Tripp Jr. and Joe Breniser; brother, Donald Berger; and great-granddaughter, Audrey Eckinger.

 A visitation will be held on January 27, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at First Lutheran Church located at 909 Tuscarawas St E, Canton, Ohio. Following the visitation, a funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM with Rev. Diana Thompson officiating. Dorothy will be laid to rest at Sunset Hills Burial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to First Lutheran Church.
