Forrest Gump’s Mama said, “Death is just a part of life and something we’re all destined to do.”
Dorothy S. Snyder, 72, of Canton, left us peacefully on Monday June 15th, 2026. Those who knew Dot would probably find it hard to believe she was peaceful.
Born on March 23rd, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Naomi West and twin sister of Donna West. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Snyder, who passed away just 7 short months before her; her sweet and loyal companion, Smokey; and her best friend and cousin, Darlene Atkinson.
Left to cherish her memory are her three children Ryan, Jack (Renae), and Susan Snyder; her seven grandchildren Austin, Silas, Caroline, Poochie, and Cecelia Snyder, and Markie and Annie Hicks. A special thank you to Mandy Ronske for the kindness and care she gave during her transition. She also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends, all lives who were touched by her kindness, strength, and love.
Our beloved, no nonsense, dignified, witty, and hilarious matriarch was one of a kind. Those who knew Dorothy understood her strength of character, her determination, her loyalty, and her remarkable respect for both co-workers and friends through her leadership and perseverance. Her dedication and commitment led her to a successful career at Fitness Quest, where she rose through the ranks to become DOP Operatus. She took great pride in her work and the relationships she built throughout her career. Relationships and friendships strong enough to last until her final days.
Dorothy was above all, a devoted wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunt, friend, and her love for all of us was unconditional.
The family encourages everyone attending the services to wear blue, her favorite color, to celebrate her life. Friends may call on Saturday, July 11th from 10:00-12:00 at Kreighbaum- Sanders Funeral Home in Canton South. Services to follow at noon. A private graveside service will be at a later date.
