Douglas C. Rice

Douglas C. Rice, age 69, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 16, 2024 with family by his side. He was born on September 21, 1954, in Canton, Ohio to the late Carl and Stella (Trushel) Rice. He was a proud resident of the East Canton community and a graduate of East Canton High School.

After a 30-year career at The Timken Company, Doug retired. He was an active member of Alliance BPO Elks #467 and took part in several bowling and golfing leagues. Doug loved playing cards, traveling, and cherishing moments with family and friends.

Doug is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Stella (Trushel) Rice; son Jeremy Rice, and stepson Dan Murphy.

Those left to cherish Doug’s memories are his wife Lynne A. (Brunner) Rice; son Carl (Traci) Rice; stepchildren Christina (Mike) Deutchman, Jenn (Ryan) McGrady, David (Abby Millsaps) Hampu, and Cristina (DJ) Suitca; grandchildren Zoey, Kaden, Rylan, Brooklyn, Kellen, Carter, Brielle, Evelyn, Eleanor, Grayson, Olivia, Dallas and Elouise; siblings John (Bobbi) Rice, Carla Howard, Susan Rice, Christine (Douglas) Delashmutt, Elizabeth (Terry Chambers) Collins, Jeff (Linda) Rice, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and friends are invited to gather at Sanders Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, to reminisce and honor Doug's remarkable life. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 2207 3rd St. SE, Canton, OH 44707, at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2024, with Father Kevin Peters as the celebrant. Following the Mass, Doug will be laid to rest at Alliance City Cemetery. Loved ones and friends are invited to return to St. Benedict's after the committal service for a time of luncheon and fellowship.
