Dwain Robert Foltz, age 95, lifelong resident of East Canton, Ohio went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by his loving wife and family on May 12th.
He was born on June 6th, 1930, to the late Irene (Werley) and Norvin Foltz. He graduated from East Canton high school in 1948.
After graduating he became a dairy farmer. Three years later he started D & K Supply as a Zero Bulk Tank and Badger Farm Equipment Supply. He installed bulk milk tanks for farmers all over Northeast Ohio. This led to the purchase of a helicopter and later a Cessna aircraft, for which he obtained a private pilot license, that continued to enable the business and a familial passion. Later, he became interested in oil and gas and rebranded D&K Supply as an oil field supply store, which was then passed down, and is still in operation by the 3rd generation.
His ongoing love for the area he was raised in, Mapleton, led him to purchase the Foltz Family Farm, along with Frase Farm and McDaniel Farms through the years. Dwain was a committed community member both in his acquisition of and caring for the Osnaburg area and constantly searched for outlets where he could give back. He then became a Rotary member and served as President, later being named as citizen of the year. He continued utilizing his aptitude for leadership by founding and becoming an integral member of the Greater East Canton Community Development Association where the first project was opening the Foltz Community Center in 1995.
Recently, Dwain saw an opportunity for growth at his Alma Mater, and he was adamant about bettering both the academic and athletic life at East Canton. He and his wife Kathy became primary donors in the construction of the Foltz Stadium and Foltz Fieldhouse, following his passion for football, as well as classroom spaces for students.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Irene (Werley) Foltz and Norvin Foltz, sister Eileen (Foltz) Conrad, son Robert Dwain Foltz, son-in-law Thomas Lesher, and granddaughter-in-law Shannon (Predmore) Lesher.
Those left to cherish his memory and continue his legacy, are his loving wife Kathy Foltz, with whom he was dedicated for more than 50 years, his daughter Cathy Lesher-Patzell (Chris), his daughter-in-law Betty Foltz, his grandchildren , Jacob (Davina) Lesher, Jesse Lesher, Katie Hannen, and great grandchildren, Abagail and Samantha Lesher, Kylie Hannen, and Jacen and Logan Lesher.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Indian Run Christian Church or Greater East Canton Community Development Association.
A private burial will be held for the family at Mapleton Cemetery. A celebration of life will take place on May 21st at 10:30am at the Foltz Community Center, where friends and loved ones are invited to gather in Dwain’s honor.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Sanders Funeral Home,
