Edith Eileen Irwin

Edith Eileen (Ritchey) Irwin, 86, of East Canton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Altercare of Alliance.

Born on July 8, 1940, Edith was the daughter of the late Roy Paul and Ruth Virginia (Hone) Ritchey. She spent her entire life in the Canton and East Canton area, where she built a life centered on family, and caring for others.

After graduating from high school, Edith married the love of her life, Donald E. "Buck" Irwin. Together they shared 54 wonderful years of marriage before Buck's passing on April 5, 2013. They devoted their lives to raising their family and creating a home filled with love.

While raising her children, Edith worked in the laundry and housekeeping department at a local nursing home, where her strong work ethic and caring nature were appreciated by those around her. Yet, of all the roles she held throughout her life, being a wife, mother, and grandmother brought her the greatest happiness. She treasured every moment spent with her children and grandchildren, and nothing meant more to her than having her family together.

In addition to her parents and her beloved husband, Buck, Edith was preceded in death by her daughter Michele Boyer who passed on July 12, 2026.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her three sons and daughters-in-law, Patrick Irwin, Matthew and Christina Irwin of Alliance, and Shaun and Kathy Irwin of Bristol, Tennessee; her son-in-law, Keith Boyer of Uniontown; and her six grandchildren, Rose, Kyle, Holly, Amanda, Daniel, and Allison. She also leaves many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her kind heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for her family.

In keeping with Edith's wishes, a private cremation will take place, followed by a private inurnment at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband.

Though she is no longer with us, Edith's love, kindness, and the memories she created with those she loved will remain in their hearts forever.
