Glenda Jane Hughson

September 21, 1946 — September 13, 2025

Glenda Jane (Neisel) Hughson, 78, of Canton, went home to be with the Lord on September 13, 2025, after a brief, unexpected decline, at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital, surrounded by her children.

Born on September 21, 1946, in Magnolia, OH, Glenda was the daughter of Fred and Blanche Neisel. She spent most of her life raising her family in Canton South and moved into Canton after the passing of her husband of 57 years, David “Skip” Hughson, Jr., in 2023.

Glenda is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Hughson (fiancé Mike McKinney), and her son, David (Lori) Hughson III . She was the proud grandmother of Benjamin Fisher (fiancé Brittany Phillipi), Ashley Millington, Cortney Ayers (Patrick), Anna Hughson, and Dylan Park. She was further blessed with nine great-grandchildren: Samuel, Evelyn, and Isabella Fisher; Jackson, LoriAnne, and Claire Millington; Cali Hughson; and Harvey and Penelope Ayers. She is also lovingly remembered by her cousins, nieces, nephews, and her lifelong friend, Diane Knight.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, her parents, her sister Verna Lann, and her grandson, David Hughson IV and nephew, Randy Scafe.

Glenda graduated from Canton South High School in 1964. She worked at Waco Market, Conley’s, and Cardinal’s grocery store in Canton South, but her true calling was caring for her family. She gave generously, hosted holidays graciously, and loved unconditionally.

A lifelong Elvis Presley fan, Glenda treasured his music and delighted in attending shows with impersonators on family vacations. In the 80s and 90s, she built an impressive collection of clown figurines, which filled her curio cabinets. In the 2000s, she found joy in scrapbooking, creating albums that captured the milestones of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren — labors of love that her family will cherish forever. She also often scratched her itch for shopping by watching QVC, happily indulging in the latest finds.

A faithful member of Wildwood Chapel in Mapleton, Glenda will be remembered as one of the kindest people anyone could meet. She was empathetic, forgiving, and endlessly understanding. Her love and gentleness will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home in Canton South. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. noon with Pastor Tim Prince officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Wildwood Chapel, 8628 Mapleton St. SE, East Canton, Ohio, in memory of Glenda Hughson.
