Helen (Kemp) Pyles, 105, of Canton, Ohio, peacefully departed this world on Wednesday, July 30, 2025. She was born on August 24, 1919, in Belmont, Ohio, to the late Peter and Almeda (Perkins) Kemp. She will always be remembered for her character, conduct and knowing the secret of remaining content in all circumstances. It requires a special act of grace to accommodate every condition of life, to carry an equal temper of mind through every circumstance. Her magnetic character was the rarest combination of practicality, morality, and spirituality.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Burley R. Pyles in 1983, brothers, Oval Kemp and Dale Kemp, and sister, Hildreth (Kemp) Mayberry. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Linda (Dunlap) Pyles of Canton, and Terry and Carol (Nieb) Pyles of Canton, one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Mark Barnard of North Canton, 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was a very reserved and disciplined person with a gentle spirit and could always keep a secret. Her hobbies and interests included reading, music, cooking, crocheting, gardening, sewing, making and molding candy, decorating cakes, playing the harmonica and exercising. She had a special interest in nutrition and wellness and loved to shop, especially for shoes.
She was a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ and was a member of the Northwest Church of Christ and former 9th Street Church of Christ where she was employed for 19 years. She gave the greatest gift to her children that any parent can possibly give; she shared her faith and was very happy that all three of her children are followers of Jesus Christ. She was a caring person, a remarkable woman and an exceptional Mother. She was like a blessed candle burning through life's long night: quietly useful, simple, gentle, tender, and always giving light.
