James P. McDermott passed away on Sunday March 17, 2024, at Aultman Hospital. He was born on August 14, 1941, to the late Phillip and Helen (Glancy) McDermott. James was a 1959 graduate of Timken Vocational High School. He was employed as a bricklayer and was a member of the Bricklayers Union Local #6 of Canton.
James was a current resident of the East Sparta community and a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church of Minerva.
Those left to cherish his memory are his Daughter Stefanie Best; grandchildren Austin and Garrett Best; sister Phyllis Morrison and nieces Cheryl Morrison and Dawn (Scott) Morrison.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 22, 2024, at 1:00pm at St. Gabriel Catholic Church of Minerva located at 400 W High St, Minerva, OH 44657. Burial at Calvery Cemetery will occur privately at a later date.
In lieu of flowers please donate in James’s memory to the Humane Society of Stark County at 5100 Peach St, Louisville, OH 4464.
