Janet M. Smith

Age 86, of Canton passed away Sunday January 10, 2021 in Aultman Compassionate Care from Covid-19 complications. She was born June 10, 1934 in Sarver, PA to the late Peter and Lena (Rapasack) Sutara. Janet was a Canton area resident most of her life. She was an active member of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was loving known as the “pie lady”. She was a member of Springwood Lake Camp Club for more than 40 years. She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas A. Smith in 2006; three sisters, Ann Rapinski, Helen Pajer and Theresa Habosky; one brother, Paul Sutara. Janet is survived by two sons, Timothy (Bonnie) and Donald (Carla) Smith; two daughters, Patti (Travis) Curlutu and Pamela Gardner; nine grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Elizabeth Harris; sister-in-law, Rose Sutara; special cousin, Jaga Radosevich. Janet and her husband Tom served as foster parents for many years. A celebration of Janet’s life will be at a future date.
