Joseph A. Hayes

Joseph (Joe) Albert Hayes age 82 passed away in his home on Monday, June 10, 2024, from pancreatic cancer.  He was born in Mannington, West Virginia, on February 15, 1942 to the late George O. Hayes and Lillie (Efaw) Hayes.  Joe was raised in Mannington and was a 1960 graduate of Mannington High School. After graduation he moved to East Canton where he resided with his family the remainder of his life. Joe was an avid hunter.

Joe worked at Republic-LTV Steel for 32 years, working in both the Canton and Massillon steel mills. He ended his work career at Koch Industries in East Canton after working 6 years for them.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ethel M. Pounds.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 42 years; Linda Jean (McFerren) Hayes, daughter; Cathy Lynn Matula, sons; Joseph A. (Barb) Hayes Jr, Michael (Cristi) Hayes, and Steven Hayes, brothers; James W. (Joan) Hayes, George Ray (Carolyn) Hayes, step-daughter; Lisa Leach, grandchildren; Geremy Matula, Shawn Guarino, Ryker Guarino, Jodi Hayes, Natalie Hayes, Marissa Leach, Kayla Stevenson, Erica Stevenson, Jahmir Stevenson, large extended family and many friends.

A public visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 from 6:00pm. to 8:00pm. in the Sanders Funeral Home.  In keeping with Joe’s wishes there will be no funeral service.  A private burial will be held in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
