Joyce Elaine Ducheneaux

Joyce Ducheneaux (Woodzell maiden), (Nieschwitz first marriage), born January 20, 1950, in Dayton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2026, at Canton Mercy Hospital surrounded by her family, following many years battling diabetes and kidney disease. Joyce completed nursing school at Miami Valley Hospital School of Nursing in Dayton and would go on to complete a devoted career as an RN spanning over 40 years. Her proudest work was serving the most fragile in the NICU at Timken Mercy Hospital in Canton for many years, eventually finishing her nursing career at the Inn at Belden Village. Joyce was most proud of, and cherished time with her family, always looking forward to holidays, birthdays, and any occasion to spend time with her kids and grandkids. She was the loving mother of five, grandmother of fourteen, and great grandmother of six. She leaves behind sons Mike (Farah), Aaron (Emily), Dan (Sara), and Nathan (Alyssa) Nieschwitz, daughter Rebekah (Eric) Heatherington, and nephew Trent Woodzell (Amanda). She was the proud grandmother of Abigail, Riley, Isabelle, Michaela (Josh), Natalie, Braden (Katie), Cavan, Benson, Blake, Olivia, Findley, Sutton, Dylan and Tyler, and great grandchildren Carson, Clara, Evelyn, Ruthie, Margot and Elsie. Joyce is preceded in death by her parents Houston E. Woodzell and Ann Woodzell, brother Marvin Woodzell, and sister Bettylou Woodzell.

Friends and family may call Tuesday November 10th from 8:30-10:00 AM at Sanders Funeral home, 218 E Nassau St, East Canton, OH 44730, followed by a mass of Christian burial at 11:00 AM at St. Louis Church, 300 N. Chapel St., Louisville, OH 44641. Graveside service will follow at Center Church of the Brethren cemetery, 2811 Ravenna Ave NE, Louisville, OH 44641. Friends and family are welcome to join after the services for a meal and celebration of Joyce at the Louisville Eagles, 306 W Main St., Louisville, OH 4461 from 1:00-4:00.
