Marilyn J. Shearer

Marilyn J. Shearer, age 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 05, 2024. 

She was born in East Canton, Ohio on April 7, 1944, to the late Norman Metzger Sr. and Lillian (Dudley) Metzger. 

Marilyn was a 1962 graduate of East Canton High School and a 1969 graduate of Cuyahoga County Community College.  She went on to work for the Stark County Board of MRDD for 11 years, retiring in 2004.   Marilyn was a member of Mapleton United Methodist Church and the Buckeye Corvette Club.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband, Richard “Dick” Shearer whom she married in 1970; sons, Rod (Christine) Shearer and Todd (Amy) Shearer; grandchildren, Ashley Shearer, Travis Shearer and Tobias Shearer; brothers, Richard (Carol) Metzger, Robert (Carolyn) Metzger Sr., Gary (Sherry) Metzger, and Timothy (Sherry) Metzger; sister in law, Norma Metzger.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Norman Metzger Jr.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 9th from 5-7 pm at the Sanders Funeral home in East Canton. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, April 10th at the funeral home with Pastor Tim Prince officiating. She will be laid to rest at Mapleton Cemetery.
