Marland J. Showalter
Age 82, of East Canton, passed away unexpectedly Saturday June 19, 2010 in his home. He was born March 7, 1928 in Louisville, OH to the late Howard J. and Anna S. (Taylor) Showalter. He was a 1946 graduate of East Canton High School and a resident of East Canton since 1939. He retired from HP Products in 1993 after 10 years of service and was formerly employed by Canton Tool for 28 years. He was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, ASQC, Canton Gyro Club, Knights of Columbus council #2530 and Fraternal Order of Eagles aerie #2374. Marland was an avid bowler, enjoyed playing golf for many years and loved sports of all kinds. Marland was very creative, he was an excellent tool and die man, there was nothing he could not design, repair or build. He loved the time he spent working at home and in his yard. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two infant brothers. He is survived by his wife, Argia (Pugnale) to whom he was married 59 years; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Joyce Showalter, Chris and Patty Showalter all of East Canton; one daughter and son-in-law, Vicky and David Budinger of Cincinnati; five grandchildren, David, Andrew, Brennan, Calvin and Valerie; one sister and brother-in-law, Luella and Tunney Lambert of East Canton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday June 22, 2010 at 10:00am in St. Benedict Catholic with Fr. Benson Okpara as celebrant. Interment in St. Louis Cemetery. Friends may call Monday 5-8pm in the Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Benedict Catholic Church.
