Mary “Jo” Mosteller, age 93 was born on March 9, 1932 and passed away on June 8, 2025 in Canton, OH. She was born in Hayesville, NC to Samuel E. and Estella (Phillips) Nelson but after her mother passed, she was raised by Donie Nelson.
Jo was a Hayesville High School graduate and moved to the Canton, OH area shortly after graduation in search of work. She worked at various places in the area until she and her husband decided it was time to retire and move back to North Carolina. In 2018 she moved back to Ohio to spend her last years with her children and grandchildren.
She enjoyed gardening, was a lover of all animals, furred and feathered. Jo will be remembered for her unwavering support for anyone that needed a ride or help with anything. She was a very caring and thoughtful person.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband Dean Mosteller, two brothers and a sister.
Those left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Chrystal (Bob Riggie), Shook, Carla Slagle, Gina Shook; grandchildren, Seth Slagle and Sydney Slagle, and her best friend Louise Byers.

A private graveside service will be held at Union Hill Cemetery in North Carolina.
