Mary E. Pitz

Mary E. Pitz, age 90, of Massillon Ohio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 2nd, 2025, at Danbury of Massillon.

She was born on May 8th, 1935, in Canton, Ohio, to Russell and Pearl (Baird) Needham.

Mary graduated with a bachelor's degree in education from Miami University, and retired from Perry Local Schools, where she taught at Lohr and Reedurban Schools. Mary was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Canal Fulton.

Mary was active at Pike Grange, and a member and past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star #180 in Canal Fulton. She was also a member of the Massillon Community Hospital Auxiliary. Mary found great joy in service, faith, and spending time with her loved ones.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Donald W. Pitz, step-daughters, Sherry Moke and Janice Wells, and sister, Betty Nauman.

Mary is survived by her step-daughter, Luanne (Thomas) Everhart of Canal Fulton; seven step-grandchildren; ten step-great-grandchildren; beloved nieces and nephew, Sharon Miller, Mary Herron, and David Dougherty.

Mary will be laid to rest at Canal Fulton Union Cemetery with a private graveside service at a later date.
