Pearl Graber
loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on August 12, 2021. Born in East Canton on October 24, 1922, to the late Argus and Mary (Stokes) Van Voorhis, she was a 1940 graduate of East Canton High School. On Aug. 22, 1953, she married the late Nelson Graber. Pearl retired from the Hoover Company after 11 years of service. Prior to her working there, she was employed by Plain Local Schools, the Timken Company, and the Ohio Power Company where she was a home demonstrator.
Pearl was an avid baker known for her luscious pies with thin crusts. She was also an excellent seamstress who made Halloween costumes for her children and grandchildren. Pearl was a member of the Indian Run Christian Church and Sponseller Grange.
She is survived by her children, Janet Thiede and Dean (Karen) Graber; four grandchildren, Joshua, Taylor, and Hunter Thiede and Melissa (Zach) Sibert; one great-grandchild, Milo Sibert; and one brother, Carl Van Voorhis. Pearl was preceded in death by her brother Robert Van Voorhis.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 14, 2021, at 11 a.m. In the Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton. Friends may call one hour before the service on Saturday (10-11am). Interment in Sandy Valley Cemetery, Waynesburg. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity of East Central Ohio, 1400 Raff Rd SW, Canton, OH 44710.
