Raymond "Doug" Spoon

Raymond "Doug" Spoon, age 67, passed away at Aultman Compassionate Care Center on May 1, 2026. He was born to Willard and Ethel in Martins Ferry on October 26, 1958.

Doug attended Louisville High School before enlisting in the United States Army. In his younger years, he loved to play baseball. He also reached the highest advancement rank in Boy Scouts by earning his Eagle Scout badge.

Doug worked in carpentry for many years before retirement. In his free time, he enjoyed everything outdoors - fishing, camping and having a great time alongside his many beloved friends. Doug was very outgoing and social but at the same time, he was a simple man. Doug was very funny and he was always quick with a comeback. He was always so kind and generous and he would help anyone in need without hesitation.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Harold C. Burwell; and a brother, Willard Spoon.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving mother, Ethel F. Burwell; siblings, Latisha (Mike) Hinson, Edward Burwell, Twila (Danny) Saccucci and Tim (Randi) Burwell; aunt, Barb Toussant; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Per Doug's wishes, cremation has taken place and his family is planning a celebration of his life to be held on a later date.
