Richard Lee Byers

Richard Lee Byers age 89, passed away June 5, 2024, at Compassionate Care Center, with his wife Betty of 64 years by his side. Richard served in the United States Marine Corps from October 1953 to October 1956. He was a graduate of Canton South High School and retired from life insurance sales and real estate sales. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Beside his parents, Harold W. Byers and Marjorie (Schnearer) Byers, Richard is preceded in death by his daughter Janice Marie Byers; grandparents, Oliver and Mable Schnearer; Isaac and Eva Byers and his brother Charles I. Byers.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Betty L. Byers, daughter, Linda L. (Byers) DiNunzio; Grandson, Griffin Millspaugh and Griffin's father John Millspaugh; and many cousins in the Louisville area. 

Richard was a lifetime member of the Mt. Zion Community Church, serving as a trustee for many years as well as a finance committee member. Richard loved nothing more than spending his time outdoors in his garden and taking care of his lawn.

Friends and Family may call on Sunday June 9, 2024, from 4:00pm. - 6:00pm. at Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Monday, June 10, 2024, at 12:00pm., at Mt. Peace Cemetery 217 Kent Avenue NE., Hartville, Ohio 44632.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Richard’s memory to Mt. Zion Community Church at 2637 Baum St SE. Canton, OH 44707.
