Richard "Dick" R. Grunder

Richard “Dick” R. Grunder, 84, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, November 4, 2026. He was born on October 13, 1942, in Nimishillen Township, Ohio, to the late Roland E. and Iva L. (Schwab) Grunder. Dick was a life resident of the community.

Throughout his career, Dick worked in the construction industry, eventually retiring as an operating engineer. He took pride in his work and in the many accomplishments he achieved over the years. But of all the things life brought his way, his greatest source of pride was the life he built with his wife, Catherine “Cathy” (Knouff) Grunder. Together, they shared 65 years of marriage, love, and memories.

In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by a brother Roland J. (Noonie) Grunder.

Those who will continue to cherish his memory include his wife, Catherine “Cathy” B. (Knouff) Grunder; his daughters, Kelly (Phil) Girard and Anna (Ron) McLaughlin; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; brothers Tom (Barb) Grunder, Jim (Kathy) Grunder and his sister Jean Roud.

In keeping with Dick’s wishes, cremation will take place, and no formal services will be held at this time. A Celebration of Life service will be planned for a later date.
