Richard T. Ward
Age 72 of East Sparta passed away unexpectedly Sunday October 17, 2021, at his home. He was born April 20, 1949, in Cleveland, OH to the late Robert E. and Therese Ann (Arrigo) Ward. He was a graduate of St. Ignatius High School, John Carroll University and received his master’s degree from the University of Akron. Richard retired from Canton City Schools after 32 years of service and was employed by Brookside Country Club for 43 years and the Stark County Board of Elections. He had served as a volunteer for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Committee and was an avid Cleveland sports fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family and adored his three granddaughters. He is preceded in death by one brother, Robert Ward. Richard is survived by his wife, Deborah A. (Ungurean) to whom he was married 48 years; one son, Matthew (Misty) Ward; one daughter, Mary Ward; three granddaughters, Samantha, Addisyn and Milena; one brother, Kenneth (Anne) Ward; one sister, Judith Contolini; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. The family requests no flowers, memorial donations in Richard’s memory be made to the Tusky Valley Trojan Booster Club at Tusky Valley High School, 2637 Tusky Valley Rd. NE, Zoarville, OH 44656.
