Rodney R. Steinbach, age 81, passed away peacefully at Aultman Hospital on September 17, 2026, following a period of declining health. He was surrounded by his loving family. Rodney was born in Canton, Ohio, on July 25, 1945. He was a 1965 graduate of Perry High School. Following graduation, Rodney was drafted into the United States Army, where he proudly served for two years before receiving an honorable discharge in 1967.

Rodney was fortunate to find his loving wife, Eileen (Brumbaugh) Steinbach, and the two were married on September 2, 1966. Together, they shared more than 46 years of marriage and created a lifetime of cherished memories before Eileen's passing in September of 2011.

A lifelong member of Eden Church of the Brethren, Rodney faithfully served his church community as a greeter and as a member of several church boards. He was a familiar and welcoming presence to all who knew him. Rodney was deeply loved by his family and friends, and his one-of-a-kind sense of humor brought laughter and joy to those around him. Nothing brought him greater pride and happiness than his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he loved endlessly.

Rodney retired from the Stark County Sanitation Department. He was also a member of the Good Sam Camping Club.

In addition to his parents, Fred and Eva Steinbach, Rodney was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Eileen; and his daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Kenneth Croston.

He leaves behind his daughter, Jennifer (Gregory) Stephens; grandchildren, Cody (Katie) Stephens and Shelby (John) Kelbly; great-grandchildren, Isabell and Harrison Stephens and Elizabeth Kelbly; as well as nieces, nephews, dear friends, and many others whose lives he touched.

Family and friends may visit at Eden Church of the Brethren, 4437 Richville Dr. SW, Canton, OH 44706, on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. His memorial service will begin at 11:30 a.m.

Rodney will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
