Ronald “Joe” Ferguson, Sr., 79, of Canton, Ohio, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 14, 2026, and has now gone home to be with the Lord. Born on March 10, 1947, to Alton and Ila Ferguson, Joe lived a life rooted in faith, love, and devotion to his family. A lifelong Ohioan, he is survived by his beloved wife, Hollie (nee Criss); his children, Joe (Sandi) and Dawn; and his cherished family members, Brian, Heather (Nick), and Becky (Mark).
Joe was an adoring grandpa to Madeline, Emmie, Chelsea, Zachary, Rebekah, Anna, Emmett, Madison, Brennan, and Kennedy, as well as many great-grandchildren. He was also a loving uncle to Gary, Robin, Mark, and David. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bob, and we find comfort in the promise that he is reunited with them in eternal peace.
Joe attended Lehman High School and worked for over 30 years at Republic Steel / LTV Steel. He found joy in God’s creation—loving the outdoors, fishing, and adoring his dogs—and took delight in his hobby as a Lionel model train enthusiast each Christmas season. His life reflected a quiet strength and a grateful heart for the blessings he was given.
When his health allowed, Joe was a faithful member of Mill Road Church and Sandy Valley Church of God, where he found fellowship and spiritual encouragement. His faith in God guided him throughout his life and now carries him into everlasting rest.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Sandy Valley Church of God (11281 State Route OH-800, Magnolia, OH 44643). Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance, giving thanks for Joe’s life and the assurance that, through faith, we will see him again. A reception will follow the service, where all are welcome to join the family in shared remembrance.
