Stanley Thomas

Stanley Thomas, age 90, passed away on July 7, 2023.

He was born on October 17, 1932, in Pike Township, to Albert and Darl H. (Patterson) Thomas Sr.

He graduated from Canton South High School in 1951.

Stanley was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church where he served as a greet and usher coordinator. He also was a member of the Canton Lodge #60 F & AM, the Scottish Rite Valley, and the VFW Post #3747.

He served his country in the United States Army, he is a Korean War Veteran. Stanley retired from The Timken Company in 1990 after 38 years, he also retired with 44 years of experience at the Stark County Sheriff Deputy Reserve, where he was a major of the 5th Battalion.

He enjoyed pistol shooting and received many trophies from competing.

Those left to cherish his memory are son, Richard Thomas; daughter, JoLane Boyce; a brother, Robert Thomas; 10 grandchildren, 13    great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara A. Thomas who died in 2001; daughter, Vickey Lynn Johnson; infant son, and grandchildren, Jason Crallie and Cassandra Boyce.

Calling hours will be held the evening before, Tuesday July 11th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Kreighbaum Sanders Funeral home.

The funeral service will be at the church Wednesday July 12th, 11:00 a.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church 7344 Ridge Ave SE, East Sparta, OH 44626.

Interment will be at Melscheimer Cemetery.
