Todd A. Michaels
Age 45, of East Canton was called home to be with his Lord on Friday, January 14, 2022. He passed peacefully after a hard-fought battle at Aultman Hospital and was surrounded by those who loved him most. Born December 13, 1976 in Mayfield Heights, OH. Todd was the only son of A. Edward and Diane (Bechtel) Michaels.
A 1995 graduate of Heritage Christian School, Todd continued his education at Mount Union College where he graduated in 2000 with a degree in accounting. At Mount Union, Todd was a brother of the Beta Iota Chapter of Sigma Nu fraternity, a time of which he often spoke fondly and with a great deal of laughter. Todd was also a proud member of the Boy Scouts where he achieved the highest level of Eagle Scout. As a member of The Chapel in North Canton, Todd previously served as a deacon and was instrumental in working behind the scenes of Summerblast, the Chapel’s vacation Bible school each year. Todd was dedicated in his love and service to Christ. Todd was also a loyal employee of Wayne Homes where he has worked for the last fifteen years as controller.
Todd is survived in death by his wife Erin R. (Hahn) Michaels to whom he was married 17 years: daughter, Alivia: his parents, A. Edward and Diane (Bechtel) Michaels: two sisters, Kara (fiancé, David Hamilton) Michaels and Emily (Paul) Cherry; grandmother, Norma Jean Bechtel; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Todd is preceded in death by his grandparents Donald Bechtel; and Arthur and Florence Michaels.
Anyone who knew Todd will remember him as a larger-than-life guy who loved to have fun. His laugh was loud and infectious, and his joy of life was abundant. When he loved, he loved completely and passionately. He was a master at barbeque, a connoisseur of bourbon, and was more than handy with wood working, creating beautiful pieces that he shared with friends and family. Todd also liked to dabble in pyrotechnics, creating nighttime shows for his family and neighbors to enjoy in the summer months. Next to God, the most important things in Todd’s life were his wife and his wonderfully creative daughter, Alivia to whom Todd was an amazing and loving father. The void created in the hearts of those who knew and loved Todd is immense and will never be filled. While earth lost an amazing man, God gained a mighty (albeit ornery) angel to join his army. He will be forever missed and forever in our hearts. Funeral services will be Thursday January 20, 2022 at 6:00pm in the Indian Run Christian Church with Pastor Brannon J. Marshall officiating. Friends and family will be received three hours before services at the church (3-6pm). Facial coverings and social distancing will be required. A private family burial will be in Robertsville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Chapel at 715 Whittier Ave NW., North Canton, OH 44720. Condolences or fond memories may be shared online at www.sandersfuneralhomes.com.
