William “Bill” Fisher, Jr., 77, of East Canton, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 8, 2026. He was born May 28, 1948, in Canton, Ohio, to the late William Sr. and Alta Mae (Smith) Fisher.
Bill spent his early years in East Sparta and attended Sandy Valley High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army as a member of the 4th Infantry Division during the Vietnam War.
Following his military service, Bill was employed for many years at Timken before pursuing his lifelong dream of becoming an owner-operator truck driver. For more than 30 years, he traveled the open road, logging over two million safe driving miles and visiting all 48 continental states. For 19 of those years, his beloved wife rode alongside him, sharing in the journey until his retirement in 2013.
Bill had a love for sports and enjoyed cheering on the Cleveland Indians and The Ohio State Buckeyes. A man of deep faith, he was a devoted member of Minerva First Christian Church and also held membership with VFW Post #4120 in Minerva.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his grandson, Kyle Fisher, and great-grandson, Mateo Fisher.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 33 years, Melody, whom he married on October 3, 1992; his children, Dion (Anna) Fisher of Magnolia, Preston Fisher of Malvern, Christina (Mike) Hill of Canton, and Tyson (Linda) Fisher of Canton South; fourteen grandchildren, including Brittany, Brandi, and John, whom he and Melody lovingly raised as their own; 24 great-grandchildren, with one more expected; sister Kathy (Ray) Garvin; along with numerous nieces and nephews; and his loyal furry companion, Jazzy.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Tamika Edwards of Visiting Angels for her compassionate care and support during a difficult time.
