William A. Garman
Retired Lieutenant William A. Garman, better known as “Bill”, passed away at the age of 65 on April 20, 2021 surrounded by his family. He was born Jan. 12, 1956 in Canton, Ohio to the late Charles L. and Mary Eleanor (Lorenz) Garman. Bill was a life resident of East Canton and a 1974 graduate of East Canton High School. Bill’s law enforcement career began when he served as a military policeman in the Army Reserves. Later, he proudly served on the East Canton Police Department prior to the Canton City Police Department where he retired with more than 33 years of service with the rank of lieutenant. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police McKinley Lodge #2, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #2374, and the VFW Post #3747. Bill enjoyed building and flying remote controlled planes, target shooting, spending time with his family and close group of high school friends, and working on hands-on projects. He will forever be remembered as a man who would do anything for his children and grandchildren. Bill is survived by his brothers, Victor Garman of East Canton and Charles (Priscilla) Garman of Becket, Mass.; son, William C. Garman (fiancé, Gina Amigo) grandchildren, Blayne McVeen, Keegan and Bryden Garman; daughter, Kristen E. (Terry II) Foss, grandchildren Ava and Owen Foss. Friends and family will be received Friday April 23, 2021 from 5-7pm in the Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton with FOP services at 4:30pm. A graveside service will be Saturday at 11:00am in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Fraternal Order of Police McKinley #2 at 221 – 3rd St. SW, Canton, OH 44702.
