William Veigel

William “Bill” Veigel, aged 72, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2024, surrounded by family. He was born January 29, 1952, to Billy Wayne and Dorothy (Trimmer) Veigel in Marion, OH. He graduated from Ridgewood High school in West Lafayette, OH and went on briefly to play football for Potomac State University. Bill worked as a railroader for his entire career.

Everyone knew Bill as a hardworking, loving family man. Bill loved gardening and planting flowers for his wife, Cheryl. He would watch the hummingbirds that his garden attracted, from his front porch with joy. He delighted in watching his grandchildren play sports, and even coached little league baseball teams. Sports were the center of his world, especially the Cincinnati Reds and the Green Bay Packers. Bill always kept up with his railroading buddies, attending breakfasts with them on the first Tuesday of each month. All who knew Bill remember his storytelling abilities, always accompanied by his classic one-liners.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Jinx Allbritain; brother, Steve Veigel; sister, Cathy Gorsky; sisters-in-law, Darla Graves, Renee Graves; granddaughter, Paytin Osmond.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Cheryl; children, Jennifer Veigel, Joshua (Emily) Veigel, Bill (Abby) Veigel, Nicole (Gary) Osmond; sisters, Peggy Hammersley, Sally Ford; sisters-in-law, Donna Veigel, Sandra (Bob) Holcomb; brothers-in-law, Dale Allbritain, Jimmy Graves; mother-in-law, Pearl Allbritain; special aunt, Carney (Gary) Hosfelt; grandchildren, Jadynn Veigel, Chase Wong, AJ, Lillian, Will, and Gabby Veigel, Addison and Annie Veigel, Michele, Wayne Osmond, and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 14, from 4:00 pm. -6:00 pm at Kreighbaum Sanders Funeral Home, with a memorial service to follow at 6:00 pm., with Shawn Maurer as officiant.
