James C. “Jim” Barrick

Age 76, of Louisville passed away Tuesday August 17, 2021, in Aultman Compassionate Care. He was born April 10, 1945, in Canton to the late Guy and Helen (Newell) Barrick. Jim was a 1963 graduate of East Canton High School and was a U.S. Army veteran (1964-1968). Jim was employed by Sugardale Foods as a supervisor (1968-1993) and from 1981-1995 he was also employed as a part time police officer for the City of Louisville. In 1995 Jim was employed by the Stark County Sherriff Office retiring in 2007 as a Sergeant. In 2008 he returned to work as a part time police officer for Walsh University retiring in 2018. Jim was a former member of the Louisville Fraternal Order of Eagles aerie #2374, VFW Post #3747 and was a member of the F.O.P. McKinley Lodge #2. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Karen to whom he would have been married 51 years on April 11, 2021; three sisters, Marilyn Burwell, Beverly Young and Darlene Clemson; brothers-in-law, Norman Burwell, Garland Young and Don Falenski. Jim is survived by his son, Jamie (Tammy) Barrick; daughter, Loree Barrick; two precious grandchildren, Peyton Beeching and Jacob Barrick, who were the Light of his life; one sister, Judy Falenski; brother-in-law, Ken Clemson. A graveside service will be Saturday August 21, 2021, at 2:00pm in Union Cemetery in Louisville with Pastor Brenda Young officiating. Military honors and an FOP service will be conducted. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Cornerstone Church building fund in Akron, OH. The family would like to thank Dr. Trehan, Aultman Hospice and their staff for their wonderful care; a heartfelt thank you to nurses’ aides, Collette and Bonnie at Aultman Hospice and Compassionate Care for all they did. A loving thanks to Charity Velazquez who traveled Dad’s journey for the last three years providing special care, love and friendship.
