William T. Allan
Age 98, of East Canton passed away Sunday, September 11, 2022 in St Joseph Care Center. Born January 3, 1924 in Canton, Ohio to the late Joseph and Edith (Thoburn) Allan. He was a 1943 graduate of Canton Lehman High School. Bill was a U.S. Army WWII veteran where he was a machine gunner in the Northern France-Rhineland Battle, and he was awarded with a Purple Heart and 3 bronze stars. He had been formerly employed by Babcock and Wilcox Co for 13 years, E.W. Bliss for 15 years, Canton City Schools for three years and Osnaburg Local Schools for seven years. Bill was a member of St Paul’s Community Christian Church, Lowell D. Oberly American Legion Post #556, VFW Walter S. Auer Post#3747, Julliard Lodge 460 F&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Canton, United Steel Workers Local #4396 and former coach with Stark County Hot Stove and Little League Baseball. Bill had been recognized as East Canton Citizen of the Year and Distinguished Lehman Alumni Award. Preceded in death by his wife, Corrinne Elsie Allan; four brothers, Robert, Glenn, Harry and Richard Allan; a sister, Eileen Fetrow; grandson, William Allan; son-in-law, Wynn Schuring; daughter-in-law, Becky Allan. He is survived by his children, Joseph (Carol) Allan, Elizabeth Schuring (Dennis Schnader), James Allan; grandchildren, Christa (Jeremy) Schuring-Stephens, Matthew (Ashley) Schuring, Heather (Jarred) Zapolnik, Denise Taylor, Karen (Ian) McPherson, Ian (Tiffany) Allan, Addie Allan; 14 great grandchildren; a sister, Joanne Salmen. Funeral services will be Friday, Sept 16, 2022 at 11:00 am in St Paul’s Community Christian Church, 306 N. Church St, East Canton, OH 44730. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 10:00 – 11:00 am. Inurnment in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
