William D. Burrow

February 22, 1932 — January 10, 2023

William Dean “Bill” Burrow, age 90, of Mineral City, left on his next great adventure the morning of January 10, 2023. Preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Lillian Burrow, the mother of his children Alice R. Kennedy and a collection of saints and sinners who were life-long friends.  Survived by his special companion Frances “Fran” Haney of the home; four children who he considered his greatest accomplishments, William D. Burrow of Davidson, NC, Bruce T. and Valerie Burrow of Jeffersonville, IN, Brian D. and Julie Burrow of North Lawrence, and Suzanne M. and Dr. David D. Kessler of Plain City; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law Connie B. Burrow of Huntersville, NC and Danita M. Burrow of Chattanooga ,TN. When his spirit is ready his final resting place will be   Melscheimer Cemetery near the watchful eye of his mother.

Bill started his career working at his father’s sawmill as a teenager which sharpened his entrepreneurial spirit and led to a long career in business.  He was a spectator and coach to his children and grandchildren as they enjoyed many sports.  Bill loved the family trips to the lakes of Ohio, Michigan and Canada and the cruises to the islands of the Caribbean.  He played baccarat in Vegas and hiked Ayers Rock in Australia.

Taking after Lillian, Bill was a voracious reader who would check out five books a week to the bookmobile and return them well read.  He would step on the dance floor and others would stop to watch. Bill aways dressed to the nines: spectators gave him a ten when he walked Suzie down the aisle.

Bill was a man’s man but also a lady’s man. He was handsome, brilliant, witty, and critical.  Bill laughed hard and cried harder.  He learned to tolerate things he couldn’t comprehend such as house pets.

Bill taught his children lessons good and bad but always valuable. He lived on his own terms for better or worse. Bill had a passion for life but didn’t fear death for he realized he would be remembered at the lake, around the fireplace, and at the kitchen table for generations.

Missed but not forgotten.  Safe travels, sweet William. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice. A private service will be held.
